Race Report

With lots of regulars off at the Marwell 10K and the Prague Marathon and the Evans family on a big bike ride, there was a small but select field for the May race. The weather was cool and overcast; where was the summer weather of a few days before? We welcomed new runner Liz Sparrow from Chilbolton on her first ever running race. It was good to see you, Liz. Let's hope it is the first of many.

our winnersEvie Hillier stormed home, well ahead of the field, to take the Rising Star trophy. Special mention also goes to Magnus Stroier who beat his previous time by around 10 minutes. Well done! In second place was Chris Edwards our most Improved Man and Sarah Nelson in 3rd place was Most Improved Woman.

Thanks go to the adults who accompanied juniors and, in Elizabth's case to the junior, her son Jack, who cycled with her and urged her to greater efforts.

Thanks very much to Di, Fiona for doing the signs and marshaling and to Maggie marshalling, photography and the flapjack. And thanks, of course, to the Cricket Club for the lovely venue.

The next race is on Sunday 9 June at the usual time of 10am. Just for fun we hope that some people will be running while also taking part in a 24hr race at the same time.
