Race Report
The September race was the day after the fete and it was very warm. We welcomed Maddie Searle, a visitor from New Zealand, our furthest ever runner.
As often happens with first timers, Maddie underestimated her ability when predicting her finish time so she romped home in first place. But you can't win the trophies off an estimated handicap so our winners were Caroline Sutton and Dave Henery. Dave, from Forton, is one of our most regular runners. This was his 119th run and the 22nd time he has been our Most Improved Man. Mark Curtis, in 4th place recorded his best time in about 5 years, and amazing result on such a hot morning. Well done all!
Thank you very much to everyone who helped and to the Cricket Club for the lovely venue.
The next race is on Sunday, 8 October, the morning after the beer festival, starting at 9am. New runners are always welcome. You don't have to be fast. Please do give me a call or drop me an email if you'd like to join us.
We issue a monthly email invitation a few days before each race and very occasional other emails. Please follow this link https://tinyurl.com/yygolzdb to be added to our Mail Chimp list. Some email systems may treat your first email as spam so please look out for it and add us to your trusted list.
