Race Report

The weather was good for the May race but the water was still more than ankle deep at The Cleeves so all the runners got wet feet. We welcomed new runner Mia Sait who was accompanied by her Mum, Kerrie.

Henry Kidd led from start to finish and beat his handicap by over three minutes to become our Rising Star. Most Improved Man was Andy Smith. Both he and Most Improved Woman, Alice Evans, were there at out first event 197 runs ago, Well done all!

It was very slippery at The Cleeves and Gail Hunt, who was accompanying Sam, slid gracefully off her bicycle into the water. Luckily there was no damage to Gail or her bike.

Trophy winners Andy, Henry and Alice

Afterwards the runners enjoyed chocolate biscuits with grapes for those preferred the healthily option.

Thank you very much to Maggie Barber for marshalling, Andy Smith for doing the signs, to the adults who accompanied juniors and to David Gould for processing the results.

Special thanks go to the Cricket Club for hosting us for 198 events. Next month we move to The Plough as they have started doing breakfasts and the prospect of bacon butties after the race is very appealing.

The next race is on Sunday, 9 June starting at 9am at The Plough. New runners are always welcome and you don't have to be fast. It's a handicap race so everyone, whatever their pace, has a chance of winning.

We issue a monthly email invitation a few days before each race and very occasional other emails. Please follow this link https://tinyurl.com/yygolzdb to be added to our Mail Chimp list. Some email systems may treat your first email as spam so please look out for it and add us to your trusted list.
