Race Report

Wendy, Noah and Ollie, our Most Improved Runners.

We welcomed new runner Alex Weiss to a bright but chilly April run. Roger Bradley brought a couple of gilets jaunes to improve our visibility which was just as well because we met a car rally on Nuns Walk and a stream of motor cycles on the main road.

Gemma and Vicki Blewitt set off first and led from start to finish but they aren’t in the results as Gemma was on a bicycle. Alex was next in but was running on an estimated handicap so didn’t qualify for a trophy. So this month’s most improved runner and our Rising Star was Noah Johnson. He was awarded a temporary gold cup as last month’s winner still has the trophy. Most Improved Man was Oliver Quantick. Both he and Noah improved by over 2 minutes and had new personal bests. Well done! Wendy Beveridge managed to retain the trophy as Most Improved Woman but the handicapping system will make it harder for her next month.

Thanks very much to Vicki and to Graeme and Lizzie Johnson who accompanied juniors, to Vicki and Gemma, Victoria and Edmund Weiss, James Rodwell and Maggie Barber for marshalling, to Maggie and Vicki for the refreshments, to Team Smith for doing the signs, to David for crunching the numbers and to the Cricket Club for the lovely venue.

Our next race is on Sunday 12th May, starting at the usual time of 10am at the Cricket Ground.

Everyone is welcome especially volunteers to help (full training provided). It is a handicap race so people of all abilities have a chance to win.
