Race Report

It was damp and chilly for the January race, typical January in fact. Maybe it was New Year resolutions which meant we had 30 runners for our January race including six newcomers. Everyone is very welcome and we hope you'll be back next month.

In a handicap race the prizes go to the most improved finishers and one of the joys of that system is that steadier runners have more opportunity to improve than faster one. So it was that Clive Bugeja set off first and led all the way to become our Most Improved Man finishing an amazing four minutes inside his handicap. Megan Brunwin was our Rising Star and Christina ("I'm only going to do a tempo run") Searle could not resist the temptation to compete and became our Most Improved Woman.

Clive, Megan, Lewis Young, Tom Rogers and Jack Dundas all had their best ever times. Well done!

Our trophy winners
Afterwards we enjoyed a warm welcome, bacon rolls and coffee at The Plough.

Thank you very much to Maggie Barber and Ailsa Wiggans for marshalling, Rory Chichester and Alice Evans for doing the signs and to David Gould for processing the results.

The next race is on Sunday 8 February, starting at 9am at The Plough.

New runners are always welcome and you don't have to be fast. It's a handicap race so everyone, whatever their pace, has a chance of winning.

We issue a monthly email invitation a few days before each race and very occasional other emails. Please follow this link https://tinyurl.com/yygolzdb to be added to our Mail Chimp list. Some email systems may treat your first email as spam so please look out for it and add us to your trusted list.
