Race Report

It was damp but not raining and not chilly for the February race which made a nice change from recent weather.

In a handicap race the prizes go to the most improved finishers and one of the joys of that system is that steadier runners have more opportunity to improve than faster one. So it was that María-Belén Rivas set off first and led all the way to become our Most Improved Woman finishing an amazing four minutes inside her handicap. Henry Kidd was our Rising Star, improving by over two minutes and Matt Pocock was our Most Improved Man.

Special mention also goes to Megan Brunwin who set a new personal record.. Well done!

Our trophy winners
Afterwards we enjoyed a warm welcome, bacon rolls and coffee at The Plough.

Incidentally, The Plough are the main sponsors of the HBT5 a lovely five mile race in Hurstbourne Tarrant on Saturday 2 May and the Harewood 10K is the following Monday. Both races feature wonderful displays of bluebells and support local good causes so please do enter.

Thank you very much to Maggie Barber for marshalling, Andy Smith and Alice Evans for doing the signs and to David Gould for processing the results.

The next race is a week later than usual on Sunday 15 March, starting at 9am at The Plough.

New runners are always welcome and you don't have to be fast. It's a handicap race so everyone, whatever their pace, has a chance of winning.

We issue a monthly email invitation a few days before each race and very occasional other emails. Please follow this link https://tinyurl.com/yygolzdb to be added to our Mail Chimp list.
