Race Report

It was a cool, overcast morning for the June race; ideal conditions for running. In fact the conditions were so good and our runners were so fit that we had six new Personal Records. First home and Most Improved Man was Ian Blundell who knocked an incredible 4 minutes and 53 seconds off his previous best. Clearly he has been getting in some training. Watch out Ian Beveridge - your string of victories may be under threat. Well done also to Jack Dundas, Andy Best, David Gould and Ben and Simeon Evans who all recorded new PBs. A special mention goes to David as a new PB gets harder to achieve with each successive outing and this was his 46th.

Jack presents the L2SOTM trophies to Ian, Alice and Ben

Ben Evans overtook his brother in the closing stages to take the Rising Star trophy for the Most Improved Junior and his mother, Alice, was Most Improved Woman. Alice was also the only woman so we need more female runners next time.

Thanks very much to Maggie, Sarah, Jack and our County Councillor, Andrew Gibson for marshalling, to Maggie for the flapjack, Jim for the scrummy cake, David for the signs and to the Cricket Club for the lovely venue.

We look forward to seeing you at the next race on Sunday 8 July starting at 10am at the Cricket Ground. Runners of all standards are welcome as are brisk walkers. It is a handicap race so the slowest have as much chance of winning the cups as the fastest. Supporters of all ages are very welcome.
