Race Report

It was hot, hot, hot for the August race so it is no surprise that 21 out of our 24 athletes failed to beat their handicaps. We welcomed three new runners: Lizzy Johnson, Sam Hunt and Pete Mitchell and were pleased to see visitors Linda Noke and Mike Sleath from the New Forest, David Gould from Suffolk and the Great Danes, Jeanette and Jesper Strøier.

Lizzy led from start to finish, beating her estimated handicap by over two minutes. Next home was Dennis Doney, back from injury, who was our Most Improved Man. Most Improved Woman was Christina Searle.

Special mention goes to Sam Hunt who was our only junior and became our Rising Star and thanks go to his father, Simon, who rode a bike as Sam's accompanying adult so that he could keep up with Sam.

Thanks very much to Maggie Barber, Ailsa Wiggans, Ray Noke, Sandra Doney, Luke Pierce and David Gould for helping and to the Cricket Club for the lovely venue.

A flying finish from Sam

The next race is on Sunday 11 September, the day after the fete. New runners are always welcome. You don't have to be fast. Please do give me a call or drop me an email if you'd like to join us.

We issue a monthly email invitation a few days before each race and very occasional other emails. Please follow this link to be added to our Mail Chimp list. Some email systems may treat your first email as spam so please look out for it and add us to your trusted list.
