Race Report

A sunny and “fresh” Second Sunday Of The Month saw the 50th running of the handicap race. The field of 17 runners included a new entrant, the accompanied minor Craig Derrick, to whom: welcome!

Chief Marshal Jack with Most Improved Senior and Junior runners Jacqui, Louis and Matthieu:

Perhaps it was the cold, perhaps the ripples from last month’s turkey and Christmas pudding, [surely not? — ed] but only around a third of the field improved against their handicaps. Foremost was one of our juniors, Matthieu, with a blistering run to improve his time by over 2 minutes.

First senior runner, and Most Improved Man for the first time, was Louis, closely followed by newcomer Craig and Most Improved Lady Jacqui. Well done to all of them.

Thanks go to Leyanne, who produced some lovely flapjack as recovery food – Jeremy was pleasantly surprised to discover that what he thought would be bits of apple turned out to be lumps of white chocolate! Definitely scrummy.

Thanks, too, to Emma Evans and Maggie for timekeeping and manning the refreshments table; to Jack for being Chief Marshal; to the Goulds for the signs; to the Cricket Club for the use of the Ground and to Jeremy for the concept and all the start/finish paraphenalia.
