Race Report

A crisp, sunny day welcomed a field of 15 runners to Longparish for the 49th running of the L2SOTM, including first-time runner Sadie McNeice, who ran a nicely-judged 8 seconds faster than her estimate.

Jack presents the Most Improved People with their trophies

This month saw some hot competition: Leyanne successfully defended the Most Improved Lady trophy with only a few seconds to spare, and Sandra and Jacqui had a real ding-dong on the line – inseparable on the watch, Sandra was a short nose ahead.

Meanwhile, in the men’s race, newcomer Nick stormed to a very strong finish, over a minute ahead of his first run last month to become this month’s Most Improved Man.

The much-appreciated post-race refreshments included mince pies and mulled wine from Maggie and banana cake from Jim and Jack. Many thanks to them.

Many thanks, too, to Emma Evans and Maggie for timekeeping; to Jack for being Chief Marshal; to the Goulds for the signs; to the Cricket Club for the use of the Ground and, last but not least, to Jeremy, without whose drive and vision none of this would have happened at all.
