Race Report

What a wonderful turnout for the January race. It certainly wasn't the weather. Maybe it was New Year resolutions. If so let's hope they stick. We welcomed new runners Matt, Steve and Henk. The race is fast becoming an international event with runners from Australia, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, England, Holland and Scotland. Was there anyone from Wales? Magnus with trophy and cakeFirst home was Henk but he doesn't appear in the results as he wasn't racing. Most Improved Woman for the third month running was Rachel Waite. This was also her fourth consecutive Personal Best. Well done! All that practice is clearly working. Most Improved Man was Matt Simmons who knocked well over a minute off his previous best time. The Rising Star Award went to Magnus Stroier. Caongratulations also to Lance Mitchell for a PB. Thanks very much to marshals and timekeepers, Maggie, Pauline and Sophie, to Fiona and Maggie for the photos, David for the signs and Jim for the scrummy cake and, of course, to the Cricket Club for the lovely venue. Both David and Jeremy will be away for the next race so offers of help will be very welcome.
The next race is on Sunday 9 February starting at the usual time of 10am at the Cricket Ground.

Core Stability Class - 6.30 on Thursdays at Longparish Village Hall

Improving core stability as part of a sensible exercise programme can help your running. There a class in Longparish Village Hall on Thursday evenings at 6.30. It is led by Sam Pratt who has the ability to help people of all shapes, sizes and ages to improve. Core stability is the power, strength or ability to control the position and movement of the central section of the body such as, the spine, pelvis and shoulders. This central section of the body assists in the maintenance of good posture and also provides the foundation for all arm and leg movements.
