Race Report

What a lovely morning for a run. We welcomed new runner Martin Stevenson and welcomed back Rachel Parkins after 9 years. Conditions were excellent for running and over half our field of 25 runners broke their handicaps with 7 new personal records.

This was our 10th anniversary. In that ten years 289 people have done the race and they have run over 6,350 miles between them. Three of the first timers were there this time. Step forward Wendy and Ian Beveridge who have done the race 146 time between them and Maggie Barber who has helped at nearly all of the races and made well over 100 square feet of flapjack as well.

Rising Star, Stephen, roaring off the starting blocks.

Stephen Williams is going like a train. He beat his PB again and was first home to be our Rising Star. Tony Reid was Most Improved Man, also with a PB, and Wendy Beveridge was Most Improved Woman. Dennis and Sandra Doney, Archie Waite, Luke Pierce and Frankie Arnold also had new personal bests. Well done!

Thanks very much to everyone who helped whether by escorting juniors (lots of people), to Sam Arnold for taking photos, to Maggie Barber and Jim Dundas for baking, Angela Dewy and Rob Bryan for doing the signs and Maggie and Pauline Masters for marshalling.

Our next race is on Sunday 13 November. Please remember that we start earlier than usual at 9am to give time for people to go to the Remembrance Day service. It is a handicap race so runners of all abilities have a chance to win. Everyone is welcome especially volunteers to help!
