Race Report

Two Fortonians battle it out.

We started early for the November run because of Remembrance Day and it was a lovely bright morning. We welcomed new runner Søren Petersen and welcomed back David Roebuck who we haven't seen for a while.

Perhaps it was the early start but, despite the fine weather, only four of our runners broke their handicaps. That included Dennis Doney who had a new personal record. Well done!

There was a Forton battle along Nuns' Walk. David Gould was in hot pursuit of Dave Henery and eventually overtook him.

Most Improved Man was Ian Beveridge, the 14th time he has received this honour. Most Improved Woman was Sheila Evans and Frankie Arnold was the Rising Star.

Thanks very much to Sam Arnold for taking photos, to Maggie Barber for baking, David Gould for doing the signs, Maggie and Wendy Beveridge for marshalling and to the Cricket Club for the lovely venue.

Our next race is on Sunday 11 December starting at the usual time of 10am at the Cricket Ground. This is our Christmas race so refreshments will include mulled wine and mince pies. Everyone is welcome especially volunteers to help (running is not essential). If you'd like to run it is a handicap race so people of all abilities have a chance to win.
