Race Report

Our trophy winners, Luke, Sandra and Billie

The weather was fine and sunny as 21 runners gathered for the Christmas race and then the cold wind and rain started and Billie took shelter under the table. Luckily the wind blew the rain away and it was fine for the post-race refreshments.

We welcomed back Moira West for the first time in over 11 years. She claimed her handicap was no longer valid after all that time, a very fair point, so she started from an estimated handicap.

First home and our Most Improved Man was Luke Pierce. Sandra Doney was our Most Improved Woman and Billie Reynolds was our Rising Star. Andrew Jones and Camilla Janmohamed recorded their best ever times. Well done all!

Thanks very much to Maggie Barber for marshalling, assisted by the first few finishers who were nabbed to help, to Billie's Dad for accompanying him, to Maggie & Jeremy and Sandra for the refreshments, to Andy Smith for doing the signs, to David Gould for crunching the numbers and to the Cricket Club for the lovely venue

Twas the season to be jolly so refreshments included mince pies and mulled wine and chocolate biscuits and our Most Improved People were awarded Christmas gifts.

Our next race is on Sunday 12th January at the Cricket Ground, starting at the usual time of 10am. So if your New Year resolution is to get a bit fitter, please come and join us.

Everyone is welcome especially volunteers to help (full training provided). It is a handicap race so people of all abilities have a chance to win.
