Race Report
The handicapping worked well with 10 of the 15 runners finishing within two minutes of each other. Now that the bridges are open at The Cleeves, the course is .2M longer than last time. So anyone with a time under 37.5 minutes on handicap did better than last time. Well done.
Commiserations to Andy Smith who had to stop because of an injury and then limped to the finish. The most improved runner was Philip Cotton but he graciously explained that he did well this time because he walked some of the way last time with Juliet. So the prize for the really most improved runner went to John Scott. After taking account of the increase in the length of the course his improvement was around one and a half minutes. Well done! Our thanks go to Jack Ellicock for giving the prize and also giving us a stop watch to record the times for the future. Thanks also to our officials Jack, Jane, Emma and Maggie for doing the official stuff and proving excellent refreshments.
We welcome new runners James and Rob. They finished first and second because they underestimated their own abilities when guessing their first handicaps. Next time they will find it a little harder.
Next month's race will be on Sunday 10 December starting at 10am at the Cricket Ground. Jack has kindly put up two prizes; one for the most improved man and one for the most improved woman.
