Race Report
We were joined by new runners Scott, James, Katie and Lucy and some Hardley Runners who were perhaps a little jaded from their 18 mile reccy of the upper reaches of the Test Way the day before. All were very welcome. It was muggy for the run with a little drizzle; enough to to cool the runners but not to dampen the spirits.
Ian Blundell smashed his handicap by over 4 minutes to retain the trophy for Most Improved Man. He has clearly been practising and, if he keeps up this rate of improvement, Mo Farah will have to watch out. Jacqui Healey was Most Improved Woman and Katie Nelson took the Rising Star trophy for Most Improved Junior. Special mention also goes to Chris Dewey who had a new PB and just missed the course record and to runner number 16, Ian Beveridge, who dived for the line to get 16th place and thus became our 1000th finisher. Well done all!

Thanks very much to Maggie, Anna and Jack for marshalling, to Maggie for the flapjack, Jonathan, Glynne and Ian for the photos, David for the signs and to the Cricket Club for the lovely venue. Thanks also to Sarah who accompanied juniors round the course.
After the race Maggie & Jeremy hosted a barbie in Forton. Thanks very much to them and to everyone who came and brought such a wonderful array of food and drink. The sun came out and summer arrived at last. We even had to seek shade under some apple trees.
We look forward to seeing you at the next race on Sunday 9 September starting at 10am at the Cricket Ground. Runners of all standards are welcome as are brisk walkers. It is a handicap race so the slowest have as much chance of winning the cups as the fastest. Supporters of all ages are very welcome.
