Race Report

Despite the holiday season we had a good turnout for the August run with numbers swelled by five new runners and some visiting Hardley runners who completed 19 miles the previous day as part of their preparations for next month’s Test Way Relay. The weather was warm and sticky but much cooler than last time and three runners had their best ever times including our Most Improved Man, Mike Delauney and our Rising Star, Victoria Goldsmith. Particular credit goes to Victoria who beat her previous record by nearly two minutes and completed the 5 kilometres in 24 minutes and 3 seconds. Most Improved Woman was Elizabeth Prince.

The Most Improved Runners

Thanks very much to Pauline, Marlene, Judy, Kevin, Maggie and Hilary for marshalling and photography, to David for the signs and the chocolate sludge cake recipe, Jim for the cake, and the Cricket Club for the lovely venue.

The next race is on Sunday 8 September so why not treat yourself to a run after the fete! We start at the usual time of 10am at the Cricket Ground. It is a handicap race so the slowest have as much chance of winning the cups as the fastest. Supporters of all ages are very welcome.
