Race Report

It was a lovely morning for the August race. Inspired by Mo Farah's Olympic success, 28 people ran our 5,000 metre handicap race and five of them had their best ever times. Well done!

Archie, our Rising Star, launching himself onto the course

First home and Most Improved Woman was Angela Dewey. Archie Waite (pictured) was our Rising Star and Richard Arnold was Most Improved Man. All three, together with Sandra Doney and Les Blount had personal bests.

Although he was MIM Richard kindly deferred to Lance Mitchell so the trophy went to our Most Improved Great Grandfather.

Thanks very much to people who accompanied juniors, to Maggie Barber, Poll Brownlow, Katy Evans and Angie Bryan for marshalling, to Angie and Maggie for the cake and flapjack and to Sam Arnold for the wonderful photos. Thanks also to David Gould for putting out the signs and to the Cricket Club for the lovely venue.

The next race is on Sunday 11th September starting at the usual time of 10am at the Cricket Ground. It is a handicap race so runners of all abilities have a chance to win. Everyone is welcome especially volunteers to help!
