Race Report

It was a dull and dreary morning for the July race, more like March than July. Despite that 8 of our 23 runners broke their handicaps and 6 of them achieved their best ever times. Well done!.

Nick and Paul guiding Tony, the L2SOTM's first blind runner

We welcomed new runners: Matt Hodgson and Tony Nicholls. Tony is our first blind runner and ran with two sighted guides. Our Rising Star was Frankie Arnold who not only beat his handicap but was faster than most of the adults. Sandra Doney was Most Improved Woman and Adam Vaughan was Most Improved Man.

Thanks very much to Paul Fielding and Nick Walshe who guided Tony, to Sam Arnold for some great photos which you can see here, to our helpers, Pauline Masters, Abigail Doney and Adam Vaughan, to Jim, Rob and Maggie for the cakes and flapjack. Thanks also to David Gould for putting out the signs and to the Cricket Club for the lovely venue.

The next race is on Sunday 14th August starting at the usual time of 10am at the Cricket Ground. It is a handicap race so runners of all abilities have a chance to win. Everyone is welcome especially volunteers to help!
